Snead Island, FL, on the Manatee River

Client Goal: Create a riverfront oasis on their large 1+ acre lot.  They wanted a home “built to last” and with low maintenance to accommodate their active travel lifestyle.

Design Challenge: Elevate the home for the coastal flood zone and save a grand oak that was just beyond the footprint. The client’s wanted a modern home built to withstand the coastal environment yet look like it was built in 1925.

Signature Design Detail: A large stem wall disguised as brick piers with a vented crawl space, plus a septic system and drain field, greenscaped into a beautiful patio enclosed by a concrete retaining wall clad in riprap.
